The Lightning Thief
Some of the greatest role-playing video games of the 90's include Final Fantasy VII, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Chrono Trigger. Pair this with a beloved children's fantasy-adventure novel like Harry Potter or The Hunger Games and what do you get? Village Theatre Kidstage's production of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical!
Inspired by all things nerd culture, the sound design for this production was a major element in creating the old video game aesthetic that was desired to help tell this modern day Greek epic. As Percy's story unfolded on stage through acquiring and equipping key items, as well as defeating various monsters and enemies in battle, sound was along for the ride to tell this hero's journey through nostalgic 8-bit synths and effects.
Directed By: Brad Walker
Choreography: Keoni Dilay & Jimmy Shields
Music Direction: Andrew Pang
Set Design: Rebecca Strom
Costume Design: Arielle Spraycar
Lighting Design: Hannah Gibbs
