Chicago
Cornish College of the Arts' production of Chicago was not what you would typically expect. In this production, Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart have joined forces to tell their stories of injustice to a group of inmates at a women's prison in late-1920's Chicago. Through retelling their stories they hope to bring women together to take down the patriarchal systems that have failed them.
Since this production takes place in the 1920's the sound design was influenced by vaudeville theater. No digital sound effects were used. All sound effects came from a Foley sound effect station that was placed in the upstage band area. Actors would go to this station to perform the sounds that occurred through out the show with props and instruments that were necessary.
Directed By: Carol Roscoe
Choreography: Crystal Munkers & Tinka Dailey
Music Direction: Mark Rabe
Set Design: Jordan Couper
Costume Design: Kai Tamashiro
Lighting Design: Kevin Portillo
